The “Video from Web Site…” feature is not currently available in Office for Mac 2004. Mac MVP Jim Gordon recommends the following solution:

“Copy the URL from the information to the right of the video. Paste that into a web site that can download the file. I know of two sites that do this for free:

The insert the movie using the Insert menu, movie toolbar, or slide design placeholder.
If you download to .mov format PowerPoint Mac will play the video just fine, but it is not cross-platform with PCs.
If you need to be cross-platform, then choose WMV as the file format, but you also need to install the Flip4Mac QuickTime video codecs (free) so that Mac PowerPoint can play WMV files:

• If you work with any version of Word 2000 through Word 2003 for Windows and Word for Mac 2011, you can download the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint File Formats from the Microsoft Download Center area on the Microsoft Web site (https://www.microsoft.com/download).

• Passwords in Excel for Mac and Word for Mac have a 15-character limit. You cannot open a workbook or document that has been password protected in the Windows-based version of Excel or Word if the password is longer than fifteen characters. If you want to open the file in Office for Mac, ask the Windows-based author to adjust the password length.
